Annual event-2nd largest in the state- First weekend in October
Morehead City :
Rich with history, Morehead was incorporated in 1861. Settlers praised the port and the addition of the railway from Raleigh as a hub to start business. Many businessmen prospered here and many streets are named after them. Many original establishements are still standing today, and many have been updated, replaced or destroyed by hurricanes of the past or fire like the Atlantic Hotel in 1933. Today you will find a well defined community with a diverse population. Its anticipation is that growth to this town will breathe a renewed life into the old sails of Morehead City. Revitalization to the downtown Waterfront and new subdivisions and housing communities are springing up in this once quiet town. There is a sense of relaxation and a slower pace of life living here and I certainly would love to show you around the town I call home. Neighborhoods old and new sprinkle this town with personality and character. On the water, intracoastal /Newport River, Bogue Sound, Calico Creek ,man-made lake front, golf community, neighborhood with pool/ tennis/ clubhouse, close to work or away from it all ~you decide. There is something for every price range!
