Swansboro
Technically Swansboro is in Onslow County but is the gateway to Emerald Isle and Cape Carteret so I want to tell you more about it. Situated on the ICW (Intracoastal Waterway), Swansboro host many antique shops and is called "The Friendly City By The Sea". 
Farming and fising are a way of life. The downtown along the river offers quaint restaurants, retro dining and small town "gossip" shops...certainly worth the visit. 
New construction and a new hotel welcomes you as you travel thru Swansboro and enter Cape Carteret. The hospitality is friendly and you will want to return...a nice place to plant your seeds (invest); it is a growing area around Swansboro and along Cape Carteret / Cedar Point and I see it only appreciating in the future.
